Luther's childhood home
Luther's childhood in the city of Mansfeld
Martin Luther grew up in the town of Mansfeld. A few months after his birth in Eisleben, the Luder family moved to Mansfeld. They bought a house here, settled down and set up a business. In Luther's childhood home, not far from St. George's Church, you can experience Luther's childhood and the everyday life of his family in the exhibition "'I am a Mansfeld child' - Martin Luther and Mansfeld". The authentic location and spectacular archaeological finds bring this period back to life.
It was in Mansfeld that Martin Luther spent his school years and youth and received the education that paved his way into the academic world; it was here that he made lifelong friends and discovered his love of music. Apart from Wittenberg, Luther never lived anywhere else - as a "Mansfeld child", he felt closely connected to his homeland throughout his life.
You can also experience the two-part interactive hands-on exhibition "1525! Uprising for Justice" in Luther's childhood home (Mansfeld) and Luther's death house (Eisleben). Visitors slip into the roles of those involved in the Peasants' War and experience this period from different perspectives.
